Feb 24 1941. Got a sighting report of a convoy. Proceeded to intercept. Concoy arrived as expected, headind WNW. Hydro[hpne bearing indicated convoy had changed course to north.

Persicope observations confirmed this. Nearest target 3900 meters. Fired one torpedo, hit and sunk a medium tanker. Went deep as escort headed toward our position. So far, routine. Escort hovered about and left.

We plotted course for pursuit and night attack. Good fat targets.

We surfaced and began the chase. Ship sighted! Convoy is heading across our bow. Escort coming our way. We dive.

While escort hovers overhead, convoy changes course again and heads south.

It was frustrating having the convoy dancing around us while the escort, diddle hopped above. GRRRR

good luck, recently had a encounter of the convoy kind in 1941 (presistant distroyers)
