Well, after last years' disappointing wash-out, I think we got the game of the weekend this time! Cracking match, which went right down to the wire, with a much better atmosphere than last year. A lot of scoring, helped out by some pretty poor defence at times, but it certainly created a spectacle. Half-time show was a mardi gras parade to promote New Orleans over here, which was a good idea.
An enthusiastic 83,000 crowd, not quite a sell-out - what is the average for games in the USA? What is the general opinion in the US about taking games overseas? Do you feel that you are losing a home match or gaining good promotion for the game abroad? |

According to this site, average attendance at an NFL game is 68,661.
Personally, I think it's a good idea to play some games overseas. Good for the sport and, perhaps, a way to increase participation in the league with overseas expansion (some day). I guess they'd have to call it the World Football League, then, though, and maybe even drop the football to avoid confusion with the other football game. |
