Need some help/advice torps not loading

Ive just come back to Silent hunter 3 after a few years away and realising that it doesnt seem likely that I'll be playing silent hunter 5 anytime soon.

anyways installed silent hunter 3, patched decided to try out the GWX 3 mod. al installed cleanly started a new career and on the first patrol I can't get the crew to reload the torps, is this a bug or what ? is there a way round it.

Ive tried reloading a saved game, resting the crew for 2 days having them attempt to reload on a calm day, but I keep getting a message saying that there are not enough crew members in the bow trop room even though it is full.
