Extra points from Academy

Is it true that if you do well in 'Academy' you will have higher 'Renown' when you start a new 'Career'?

In stock SH3 if you don't go through the academy you start a carrer with 500 renown, If you go through it you get 1000 renown extra (I think).
If you get more renown if you do well (every test rank at excellent), I don't know

And in GWX 2.1 I wanted to ask the same question and if you get any renown at all if you go through the academy.

So far as I know, in GWX 2.1 you only have to complete one academy class to get an extra 1000 renown points. Pass the navigation exam as it is the easiest for quick moolah!

Having said that, it is a good idea to try to pass all the exams so you stand half a chance of success during your career.

That means that you get 1000 renown, no matter if complete on or all tests right?

Damn good thing - I'm new to the entire SH3 + GWX 2.1 + SH3 Commander thing - in vanilla SH3 I am used to maxing the Academy - they don't shoot back until the final exam when you attack the convoy. I just tried it out for the first time, and I was sunk by the aircraft in the Anti-Air exam! Ouch!

Naturally if I was on patrol I'd have dived away from them, not tried to shoot it out with that many bombers AND fighters!
