Default Career editting - know how in SH3, but how in SH4?

I just figure out how in SH3 to:

- Set my next patrol to whatever date I want.
- Set my renown so I may configure the sub independent of past history.

This can all be accomplished by quick text editting of Patrols_0.cfg. What this means is that I can sample the war as I want. I can make a simple career of 2 missions/year if I choose to enjoy all the war has to offer without going through years of early war without challenge.

I think I would like to have the same capability for playing SH4/TM/RFB.

For SH3, the key file to edit is Patrols_0.cfg. This contains the template for the next patrol when you are in port; determining the data and renown to spend.

Does anyone know what file(s) need to be editted in SH4 to accomplish the same?

Thanks.

I haven't tried it myself yet (just got SH4 a week ago), but after taking a look into the SH4-files in MyDocuments, I think you will need to tweak the following files:

- in ...\My Documents\SH4\data\cfg\UPCInitial, the file CareerTrack.upc

- in ...\My Documents\SH4\data\cfg\SaveGames\000....00X, another CareerTrack.upc

....where 000..00X is the last modified folder you find in there.
There are more .upc-files in those folders, but I guess only the last one modified really counts...and the general one I mentioned in the 1st location.

Open the .upc's with Wordpad.

Hope this gets you a little going, would love to hear back with results.

To change the amount of renown that you have at the beginning of a career, edit the ......\Data\UPCData\UPCCampaignData\CareerStart.up c upc file looking for lines that start with "RenownOptions=" (no quotes). Change the three choices to whatever you want (though only 99,999 will show in game).

For a saved game, edit the ....\My Documents\SH4\data\cfg\SaveGames\00000001\CareerTr ack.upc file. Use the ReplayInfo.rep file in the same folder to determine which saved game you are working with. If it's not the game you want, go to a different numbered folder until you find the folder that contains the saved game you want to edit (It should be the one that is automatically saved entering port). In the CareerTrack.upc file, you can change the line that starts with "PlayerCurrentRenown=" (again without quotes) to change current renown. In the same file at the bottom of the same section you'll find a line that starts with "PatrolStartDateTime=". You can change your patrol start date and time there. It will only change the date you leave on patrol and will not affect what assignment you have been given.

Edit : Darn it Mush, quit posting while I'm typing and researching:rotfl:
