Default How to alter renown?

What file would I go to alter renown?

I had like 10K renown, then I was down to like 8800, and couldn't figure out why. Then it hit me! All those fancy FAT torpedoes I was checking out of stock cost renown! The heck with that, I'll use the old standbys and save my renown for a Type XXI.

What file do I need to edit to put my renown back?

You can give yourself whatever amount of renown you want in the SH3 folder, in whatever drive you have it , usually the c drive.
So its, data folder,
CFG folder,
career folder, whatever career you are playing at the moment,
open the folder and go to Patrol_0.
Right click on it and open with note pad option. Or whatever text type you use..I use notepad.
Scroll down to delta renown on the last patrol, and change the number to whatever you want.
Also here you can put in a figure for medals, just above the delta renown and you crew will have medals to get .
Click on file, then save and job done.

This must be done when docked by the way and not mid patrol.

Hope this helps.

No need to fool with that for each career or patrol.

Open Basic.cfg and just make a one-time change to the amount(s) of renown you'll get in each patrol for reaching your assigned patrol grid, for completing the 24 hour patrol there, and for completing a patrol.

Here's how I set mine. It's high enough to let me buy whatever I want after my 1st patrol, but low enough that I'm still motivated to reach my assigned objective. I don't want to spend time on crew management and promotions so I buy all Chief Senior Warrent Officers and dismiss all other enlisted personnel (I modified Basic.cfg to allow that - see another thread for how).

[RENOWN]
RenownReachGridObjCompleted=3000
RenownPatrolGridObjCompleted=1000
CompletedPatrol=500

I'm not looking to fool with it each patrol, I just want to get back the 2000 renown I blew on fancy torpedoes without realizing they cost renown.

That's all well and good (and I do the same to encourage me to follow orders, but not that high ), but if you're starting a new career in a XXI, in '44-'45, you really need the upgrades before you sail.

But either method is fine.

And PS, you can leave the completed patrol at 0, 500, or a bazillion. It doesn't matter, the use for that constant was never coded into the game apparently.
