Default Can't get through deck gun tutorial

I'm new to Silent Hunter III and I've run into a bit of a problem.

I've been able to take out 2 of the 5 ships, but invariably I've run into the problem where my U-boat won't start up again.

I'll have my next waypoint plotted, I'll give the command to move at a specified speed, and nothing happens.

I'm wondering what is leaving me dead in the water?

Make sure your crew in diesel or electric room arent tired or does have enough men. If they are then you need to switch and allow them to rest or put more men in it! Type F7 and you will be able to do it.
Good luck Kaluen!
Between its not my job but, welcome in this forum

Welcome aboard Paulverisor64

As stated, ensure the green bar above the compartment is at least 2/3 full.

Put an Officer, and at least one PO there and fill up the rest with ratings.

Thanks for the welcome!

I will try what you suggest this evening. I suspected the crew might have been undermanned, but I wasn't sure how to check.

Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the best forum ever.

In a mission it becomes a lot easier to hit ships with the
DG then in the tutorial.

Good hunting.

I've had this happen too, full crew, and yet flank speed and I'm not moving. I found I had to go back slow, THEN go ahead speed.
Don't kow why, but it worked everytime.

I just did an internet search on the GWX mod, and it sounds as if it really enhances the gameplay. I have a couple questions about this mod.
1) Do you actually have to uninstall Silent Hunter III, and then reinstall it again to the 1.4b patch?
2) The links I've noticed say UK, I'm assuming that this works correctly with the US installation.
3) Does the GWX put you through a completely different campaign than the original install?

That is very interesting about having to go back slow, and then going forward. I'll have to see if this happens to me as well.

Default Good to go!

It appears that the issue I was running into was some type of bug in the game.

The strange thing is that I ran into the situation where I couldn't restart my U-boat 5 games straight. I played the game yesterday and except for once my boat started every time. The one time that it didn't start yesterday I inadvertantly hit the dive button and that seemed to free things up after I resurfaced, because my U-boat picked up it's course.

Today I was able to duplicate the problem I had earlier. I did drag every possible crew member into the Diesel Room and nothing happened. (That did bring the room to 2/3 of the green bar).

As suggested I backed my sub up, and hit the forward engine and it worked fine. It appears that there is a bug causing the issue, but it is pretty easy to work around.

Thank you everyone for your help!
