Heya @ll! Newb question :-)
'ello yall Kaleuns!
![]() Its the time again that I digged out my old SH3 CD again to sink some british freighters. ![]() Havent played it for a while. Back then I used to play GWX1 - now I got GWX2.0 installed and of course I have to say THX to the modders for this great mod! ![]() I do have aquestion though. Maybe some of you more experienced players can help with this one. I'd appreaciate it. ![]() It often happens to me, that I am unable to keep my depth below 140 meters if I do silent running. I have been reading around here that people dive down to like 240 meters. I been down there, too - but usually my U-boat slowly goes further down if I go 100 RPMs. That forces me to speed up to get back to a safer depth. The escort ships of course can hear that and send some bombs after me. Till now I was able to evade them - got back up to like 120 meters and did silent running again. Usually they loose me then. But my career is at December 1940 now and I guess in the long run I will have to stay deeper. Is the problem I am encountering a bug? Or is it intended to be that way? ![]() |

Sounds like reality to me. Changing depth affects the trim of the boat, and the only way to fix that is to run the pumps, which makes a lot of noise. The slower the boat goes, the harder it becomes to maintain balance and depth. In Aces Of the Deep after silent running for awhile you would get a message "Cannot maintain depth without running the pumps."
I have not encountered that problem yet, but it sounds good to me.

Welcome aboard TrooperCooper. I haven't noticed that problem but in GWX have never been hounded for more than an hour. Maybe been lucky.

Thank you all!
![]() EDIT for correction: its actually a hard coded crash dive bug. See this thread for detailed infomation if you are having similar problems: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=92883 In short: dont abort crash dives. Let the boat dive to its crash dive depth and level off before you do any depth changes if you did an emergency ALARM - or you are bugged. :p Last edited by TrooperCooper; 04-21-08 at 02:45 PM. |
