Default Am I cheating?

I have became very good at using the targeting/plotting tools in the TDC to sink single ships with only using my periscope once. Once I get a bearing and speed I lower scope and go to my TDC where I imput the bearing as 0 and the AOB as 0, I then watch my moving chart and make adjustments in angle and speed and range till the ship will cross my bow at 90 at any where from 400M to 1000M. The ships show up as ships on the moving plotter and your boot has a line to midship on the target. Once I fire I go to my scope and 90% of the time I see the torp wake heading right where I amed it. It will not work on convoys, too many targets, or warships (to da_ fasdt. If this is a cheat I will quit doing it.

No, it's not cheating, as your tactic relies on setting your firing solution and waiting for your target ship to be in the right position; it just does not represent 100% realism. Too many variables and external factors that would have you constantly re-adjusting your inputs, plus the fact of course, that you would have to manually mark positions on your plotting chart..

But let's wait and see what the pros say about this...

Besides, no matter how long you last, they always seem to get you in the end .

Yes kkentopanga, you're cheating.

Actually, you're not. The topic of this thread just made me laugh as I once had a friend tell me, "if you have to ask if you're cheating, then you probably are". Of course it was in reference to a completely different topic.

Just sharing

I don't think you can cheat at this game.

After 10 patrols i finally went 97% real (event camera still on) on my last patrol and found it very rewarding to succesfully do my own plotting.

OLC's video guide was very helpful in developing my process for stalking, setting up, etc...

If you were competing against me i'd say yes, you're cheating. But since your on my side, i say sink em all!

No, you seem to be just doing a guess (if you wonder: 0 bearing and 0 AOB is the target closing head on) and updating it based on observed bearing errors. If you manage to keep the TDC torpedo path plot aligned with the hydrophone sound line for a long enough time, you've got an accurate solution. SH3 just shows it in alot more graphical way than it was in reality ofcourse. But it is in principle correct.

Having a good torpedo officer aboard and using him is not cheating.

What I would like to see is a xertain ammount of randomness in his performance. Maybe something like less accuracy when tired.

I don't think 'cheating' is the correct word....more like tweaking the game to reflect your preferences
