Default Drifting off course

Playing SH3 with GWX2. 9/39 start.
1st patrol.
I was assigned AM19 from Wilhelmshaven.
In moving east and west across the top of Scotland, the boat wanted to drift off-
course to the south.
Is this built-in to the sim for wind/current movement, or is it a quirk in the sim itself?
Anyone else notice this?

thanks

In bad weather the effect of wind and waves will make your boat drift off course. (helmsman should catch this, but is a bug)This can be eliminated by using waypoints.

I use waypoints to and from my partol grid to avoid drifting off course, unless I have to go sink some ships.

Even using waypoints there is usually a little drift. If it's a particularly long leg, I've ended up around 3km off course by the middle of the leg. But you always reach the exact spot of the waypoint in the end, even if you take a very slightly curved route to it.

I actually like that it's not 100% accurate and that I don't travel in a dead straight line for hundreds of kilometres.

I notice this but have put it down to the reality of the times. First the boat will drift left ot right on a parallel course even with the efforts of the helmsman. Second I am not sure how the developers compensated with the declination between true north and map or chart north.
