Default Sinking of the HMS Hood.

Ahoy... On maiden patrol.. out of Wilhelmshaven Sept 39'.

I was heading for my Patrol grid, sailing a tad too close to the mainland, I got buzzed by the RAF so decided to do take her down to 50m, a good opportunity to conduct some sea trials on my new boat and 'time' the crew during their efforts, also I didn't want Bdu sending 'Dear John' letters home on their first voyage... the young lads are just out of 'Kindergarten'... haven't used the 'heads' yet let alone an AA Gun!!
After a while, taking her down to crush depth etc... my Sonar man detected a contact at some distance... Expecting a lonely Tramp or a Schooner out for a day trip..I thought, what the hell..the seas are calm, I might hang about and investigate...let my crew get some 'gunnery practice' she's a new boat with a 'green' crew after all....

Then..Shock and horror.. it was only a DD steaming at 18knts straight for us.. no chance of out running her...another 'crash dive drill' was in order.

Not only was it a DD but a whole Task Force apeared on the horizon!!

Time to put an officer on 'point duty' at the 'heads' and no time for my young lads to get on clean underwear!!

Ok the 'screenshots' could have been better, but not bad for first attempt.

Very nice. What mods make your periscope look like that with all the dials and guages around it?

May I ask the date and your position when you found her? I've wanted to sink the Hood for ages, but never set eye on her!

Hi Steel_Tomb.

The info you require is encoded in the post below (just telling you would make it too easy! ) besides the 'Betchley Park' may intercept it!!

I know this report is in an area not covered by the maps (AM32) in http://www.operationspinnennetz.isaf.us/ however, having read the threads on subsim.com I think I should report anyway. It's a major Task Force HMS Hood.
I have forwarded the email to BdU, but should I post it on the 'Sticky' Operation Spinnennetz thread ??

Whats the protocall??

BTW, why are there just the links to my screenshots and not the pics, did I do something wrong (jpg's too large??) sorry but I'm not as expert as you guys, I did have a look at the tutorial on posting screenshots but the screenshots don't disply there either - only one pic in the tutorial

Thanks.

You just have the syntax a bit off. It should end with [/img]

Do that and they will work - see

Can someone help me with the steps needed to decode this message? I have read instructions on the internet, but I still can't decode it correctly. I have no idea what I am doing wrong.

I was trying to use this applet:
