I'm looking for instructions on how a nomograph is used ingame, thanks.

Simply put, if you know any two of the variables on the nomo, you can determine the third by drawing a line from one of the known variables through the other and the third will be determined by the intersection of that line with the graph line for the third variable.
It is basically a slide rule (of sorts) for speed/time/distance calculations. The tricky part is when a result or a known variable doesn't appear on the nomo because it is too large. Then you have to apply mathematical principles to adjust the variables and the result. For instance, if you are trying to determine how long it will take a vessel travelling at a given speed to travel a given distance and your line extends off of the nomograph, then you can divide the distance by a number that gives a result that's on the chart and then multiply the time result by that same number. |
