I'll probably wait till tomorrow night or monday to download it so I won't be one of the party adding to the melting of the download server. The poor thing is going to be on fire tomorrow.

Note to Neal:

I'm afraid to say that I was unable to donate to get GWX 2.0 due to lack of paypal/money etc, but have in the past bought things from Amazon (birthday presents and the like). Until the other day, (if I understand correctly) I was unaware that Subsim get commission on ALL items bought through your portal. I was previously under the impression that ONLY the titles advertised in the banners were subsidised, and seeing that I buy an average of about 1 computer game per year, I didn't used it.

Perhaps you could make it a little more obvious that ANY purchase from Amazon through your portal supports Subsim, on the main page and the forums (perhaps a sticky thread in each catagory?). Also, could you clarify whether you get commission on each and every item added to your purchase, or only the first, or what?

Please be assured that I will be using the Amazon portal to support Subsim from now on...

p.s. Thanks also to everyone who contributed time and effort to GWX 2.0. I am humbled by your skill, talents and generosity!

Many thanks, Siber. Yes, I hear that a lot, I am trying to get the word out that if a Subsim member uses the Amazon search box, Amazon sends Subsim a small commission.

The process is transparent, so as long as you start your Amazon shopping by using the search box or any of the item links on the Subsim store pages below, the code should give Subsim the credit for the sale.

Say you enter "LAPTOP" in the seach box, it sends you to an Amazon page with laptops. You can navigate through the Amazon pages, comparing laptops. Maybe you decide not to buy the laptop but you see that DAS BOOT Uncut DVD set or a nice necklace for your sweetie. As long as you started from the Subsim page and used it to get to Amazon, Subsim gets 6.5% and it costs you nothing extra. It's like money on the ground.

Thanks for pointing this out, this does need to be repeated occasionally. The thing is, a lot of people are not aware of the Subsim/Amazon affiliation. If I remind people too much, I become a nagging telemarketor ; if I don't mention it enough, they never know about it. If everyone who used the Subsim forums would take this extra step and use the Subsim search for Amazon, we wouldn't need donations or advertising at all!

Thank you for that Neal. I wasn't aware .co.uk was available, I thought just .com. So I've now forwarded that to my family and friends who will hopefully utilise it.

Regards, Gavin.

Neal, I'm in the same situation as siber. I just tested your link and with two clicks found a book by a friend of mine--Wow, easy!
