Ahoy! I personally miss the HUD from stock SH4 and I was simply wondering if someone could (ever so kindly) put a file out there to bring back the old HUD for TM1.7.2.

And if someone were feeling super generous maybe they could put buttons in for "Ship Identification" and "Turn to heading" (the one where it turns the ship to where your looking) .

All you really need to do, is disable the mod, and then just delete the hud.dds file from the mod. When you renable the mod, the game will then run the default hud, and It will have buttons for the "new" functions, they'll just be plain buttons with no icon on them is all.

Default A slightly different approach

Or deactivate TM, change the name of the ....Data\Menu\Gui\Layout\HUD.dds file to HUD1.dds (in the TM mod) and change the ...Data\Menu\Cfg\OrdersBar.cfg (in the TM mod) as follows :

change the line that says ButtonIconImage=HUD.tga to read ButtonIconImage=HUD1.tga

Then reactivate TM

That way, you will have the "vanilla" HUD and retain the icons for the additional buttons in TM. You will also be able to put any HUD mod in that only modifies the HUD.dds file by activating it without any file conflicts.

And, yes, it makes no sense whatsoever, but even though the OrdersBar.cfg refers to the .tga files, the game actually uses the .dds files.

:hmm:

Learn something new every day. I'd never have thought you could cross reference the button icon labels.

I can't take credit for the idea, someone suggested it to me when the metal HUD came out and someone wanted the buttons from my mod combo but the metal HUD look. For the life of me I can't remember who suggested it ( please forgive me my infirmities). Anything that references the HUD.dds can be referenced to a different "version" of that graphic.

Glad we could help you, Poop.
