Default Disasterous yet very stupid mistake

I was playing last night, and I had the delight of sinking a Large Cargo in U-55, it was a submerged attack during daylight hours in the reasonably shallow waters of the Bay of Biskay. Now this is where it gets stupid. Having put the big boy out of commission. I decided to return to course and speed up TC a bit!

LMAO BIG mistake!

Underwater, the U-boat turned straight underneath the sinking hulk, the ship, actually landed on top of the back end of the sub! I wish I had a photo to prove it, but the back end of the sub was so busted up, you wouldn't credit it! U-55 went striaght to the bottom and eventually rested on the sea floor at 198m

Thankfully with the one electric engine that still worked, I was able to get out from the underside of the ship!

So eventually clonk! There I was on the bottom. Damage crew working like government mules to sort it out! :rotfl:

After a fair amount of time, the flooding in the aft torpedo room, electric room, diesel room was stopped. *phew*

Damage report:
Aft Torpedo tube destroyed.
Compressor Destroyed.
Starboard Diesel Destroyed.
Decoy Launcher Destroyed.
Flak Gun Destroyed.

LOL "Does anything on this heap still work?!" I asks exasperated at the screen, as if expecting my chief to reply to me. But he didn't.

Using what little compressed air was left and with about 80% power left in my batteries reaching the surface was possible, then it was flank speed all the way back to St Nazaire! Luckily encounters with planes was minimal, had a hell of a lot of luck I did! Maybe I need to trade in my VIIB I think its a bit obsolete now - either that or the sub needs to trade in its captain!

I've hidden from escorts under ships I've left dead in the water. The creaking noises grow louder and then I suddenly realize to my horror that my cover is sinking on top of me. The revenge of the merchant...All ahead flank!

I think that it does, but, its very very dangerous. The back end of U-55 was smashed to pieces and considering Im now in mid 1943, mistakes like that are very costly! That time of the way you need everything working at 110% lol

It doesnt really keep you from being detected, but it does save you from getting DC'ed since they cant reach you

The other thing that happens, damaged ships may explode. So, if you're too close...

yeah, that's a funny one. Gotta be one of a kind...lol..

I've lost track of how many times I have screwed up in various way, and it cost me every time.

That TC thing has gotten me into more dang problems. I have slowed waaayyyy down in my usage of it. I find myself using 2-4-8 with a high of 64 more and more lately. However, it does drag the game on longer.

You did well to make it back though...commendable Herr Kaptian...

I've done some very stupid things, worse one was as I was leaving Lorient in my brand new type IX/C, I very stupidly set TC to 128 not plotting a course and - WHAM! straitght into the sea wall.
Suffice to say my career was over after BDu found out
