Default Okay, I like good WX, but this is ridiculous!

Okay, for may last two patrols (Nov-December 1940 and Jan-Feb 1941) I've had nothing but flat calm and blue skies. Not once during either partol did I see so much as a mouse fart of breeze or a drop of rain. I'm thinking bug but I can't figure out what may have changed. I haven't installed any additional mods since the prooblem began. The only mods I've got installed on top of GWX are Sobey's 3d waves, SH4 effects, a Camera mod and the standard GWX mods.

HELP!!!

I can't believe you are actually wanting bad weather. :rotfl:Your experience sounds like Utopia to some.

That is very true, but the windy days with big waves make for great screenshots, and lately I've been running a little thin on material due to the unusually good wx.

I ran into that today, I was down mostly near the Med, CF and CG, sea state 0, no wind, couldn't believe it as for awhile there it seemed I always had bad weather. Then I started my long track up north, by the time I had gotten near northern Scotland, the weather turned bad, and I do mean bad!

So are you staying pretty much in the same area? Or are you encountering flat seas everywhere you go? Some of us would kill for that kind of weather!

I had the same. 2 patrols of sunny skies, and seas like glass. I thought something was wrong, but that soon changed. Enjoy the calm while you can.

Well I feel better knowing some Kaleuns have had similar bouts of extended good weather. My last two patrols were out of St. Nazaire southbound to North Africa via Gibraltar. Perhaps when I decide to transfer to Norway I'll get poopy wx again. Thanks!

On the other hand... I´ve had many patrols with three-four weeks of endless atlantic storms. No one day without winds under 15 mps, and most of them with heavy rain and dense fog. Just good-bad luck with weather.

I don´t feel calm seas as ideal; you can be seen/heard easier; for me the ideal conditions for attack are wind 6-10 mps, no rain, and cloudy/overcast seas.

On my last one and a half patrols I've also experienced 'perfect' weather and it was also in Dec '40-Feb '41. But both these patrols brought me to the North Atlantic so I don't think that transferring the Norway will give you any guarantees. Although I can imagine that on average the weather will be worse there.

On my last patrol, I had weather changing every few hours. I was about to start bitching but remembered the weeks and weeks of rain and towering seas.

Now you've said that you will get heavy seas with thick fog for the next few months lol.

I'd wish my patrols were like that! The moment I clear the Kiel canal, BANG! 200ms winds, rain drops the size of an car and a fog that prevents you seeing your own eyelashes!

I have been on my Med. runs again since that S-Class I took under and the Med. weather is very calm until recently. I took the advice to try patroling over to Malta just yesterday for some better hunting.

At first I was considering just rounding the island (deep channel at the north end is nice), but then the seas and winds started picking up as the sun set, all just due north of the Grand Harbor of Valletta! I'm now gearing due south, bobbing under for some hydrophone checks, then back up flank on the surface. If I can out-skirt the patrol craft in this fortunate bad weather and sunset, I'm good for tour of the Maltese harbor before sunrise!

I'll send you all some postcards.

On my latest patrol I've had bad thunderstorms, heavy seas and rain right up the African coast from Dakar to southern Spain. Not a single break in the weather. Prior to this the weather during the patrol was changeable, but with good periods of fine weather. This morning I came across a Passenger Cargo and managed to hit it with one torp out of two but the weather claimed the kill .
