Commander Error! Game trouble

Hey got a major issue with the game and before I think to be forced to reinstall from scratch; to run this by the board.

Commander fires up but in the screen adjacent to U-Boat # is - Type Error!
Also under that Flotilla: Error! Error!

Both current carrers same deal, as well as trying to start a new carrer. Game won't start with sh3 default Icon either, all carrers at homeport.

here's a screen

Any thoughts or should I finish a six-pack and tackle this tomorrow?

I'd finish the six-pack anyway

Are you using multi-SH3? Only thought that comes to mind is that the files have been moved, deleted or corrupted somehow. Hate to say it but finish the six pack and get your disk out for a re-install.

Do not recommend you continue with the six-pack and fiddle about with it, that would be asking for trouble !

Did you edit any of the files in your SH3 installation (i.e. add mods while at sea, not rolledback Commander etc) ?

Have the six pack, while re-installing. Only confusing thing for me was getting my MODs back installed because I misplaced the GWX bins.

The only recent change was adding SH4 effects for SH3, but that was 2 patrols ago before this occured.
Not using SH3 Multi, but as it is looking like a reinstall is nessesary I have been meaning to try that to run different Mods.

Fried something no doubt, like getting a flat tire. Why did that happen - dunno it just did.

Difference is that it's usually lashing down with rain/sleet/snow when you get a flat tire and you've misplaced your tire/jack/car whereas with this, at least you have a six-pack to content yourself with whilst re-installing

It sounds like you have added something the programme doesn't like. This usually happens with Commander when people reinstall a career file.
If taking the game back to a previous workable save is not possible, I'd suggest a full reinstall

1. Uninstall SH3 via Windows' "Add/Remove programs"
2. Open Windows Explorer and:
- *delete* the folder where you had installed SH3
- *delete* the \My Documents\SH3 folder
3. Reinstall SH3
4. If your SH3 did not come with patch v1.4b already included, install patch v1.4b. Ensure you install the patch that corresponds to your copy of SH3 (Download/DVD/EMEA/US)
5. OPTIONAL: Copy and paste this "clean" install as a backup to avoid the need to follow steps 1-3 if your game becomes corrupt in future
6.Download into the SAME folder GWX.exe and the five .bin files. While there grab the v1.03 patch
7. Run GWX.exe and follow the installation prompts
8. Run GWX103.exe and follow the installation prompts
9. SH3 COMMANDER USERS: Download the GWX 1.02+ Cfg files for SH3 Commander and unzip the contents DIRECTLY into your SH3 Commander\Cfg folder.

Only one sixpack? This game reinstalling stuff deserves more.

Ok - game has been reinstalled & patched.
SH3Commander, JSGME and MUltiSH3 installed for WarAce / NYGM / GWX folders
So, sh3/1.4 stock in each folder, tested as stock for save folder, OK.
Here's what's got me tweeked; When I copy a mod's folder into the MODS folder and start JSGME, the mod already shows up in the installed folder.

Whats up with that?

Nevermind, used latest jsgme install and fix that. Even saved the two running carrers from before the game fried. Man that was some copy and pasting for 4 different SH3 multi-installs.
