"Rundhorchen" - Listening around for contacts on which depth???

Hi Kaleuns,

I have 2 questions:

1.) In reality during WW2:
If the Kaleuns of german U-Boots wanted to listen around for contacts (Rundhorchen) - On which depth did they go?
On which depth did they reach the best result (Longest range) in listening around?

2.) Same question, but for "using GWX":
If I want to listen around (Rundhorchen) for contacts in GWX - On which depth should I go? Is there a particular depth on which I will get the longest range in listening around (Rundhorchen)?
Or do I get the same range (no matter how deep I'm)?
Should I go on 14 meters, 30 meters or ?? meters depth?
