Default My crew thinks I'm retarted

On my 5th patrol Wilhelmshaven to AN47 I spent the whole time travelling by night & chasing around in circles & seeing nothing. I just can't get the hang of finding them.
The only intercept that I did perfect ended up being a dang fishing boat from Norway...lol..

I finely gave up & headed south along the west coast of the British Isles.
I did several intercepts along the way & busted on every one.

Fionely just about to the English channel & doing another intercept at night when..."Pow!" this big ol C3 filled my binocs & hung out at both ends...

Big surprise...lol.. anyway three torps later he is sitting on the bottom & awash & burning furiously. Happly (I finely did it right) I turned for home, but now it's getting light so I settled on the bottom to await the darkness.

The a DD shows up on the hydrophones & I'm just sitting thereplanning my next move when "BOOM!" "we have damage sir!" The dam* electrical system erupts & I have damage within the whole boat

Now I'm sitting on the bottom with a DD closing in & my whole crew is shouting at me about damage. I finely got damage control...(glad I have an officer repair & two machinest mates onboard).. lol.. Anyway, that sudden eruption really startled me & it took a few minutes to even figure out what to do..

I made it back & thought that was a very interesting patrol...

Questions:

how do u set up the torps to fire a salvo of two? I can get three, but it won't do two...

Isn't 3 one of the options on the Salvo Knob?

Yeah, it is.

yeah, I have been able to stay alive through 5 patrols, however I turned tail a couple of times when I heard DD's escorting some targets. I just couldn't put myself and my crew in a position where we were sure to get killed. Only 20 to 60 Meters of water under me seemed like a sure way to die.

I'm just not fast enough to tangle with those destroyers yet.
When I did the single missions training scenarios I was just cannon fodder for the DD's ..

I have just read a past link on using the hydrophone and it was explaned a little different, but it made since so I'll give a-go & see how I do.

so far I am only making a visual with the target about 1 out of 5 times...
I have around 8-9 sinking out of 5 patrols so I'm going to be satisfied with that & just try to slow down & be more patient...

ha ha I do know that that big ol C3 popping out of the night seas actually startled the heck out of me ...lol..for real..

I had two torps set for 5 meters & I quickly set the third for 11m which I used as soon as I got ahead & almost head on...It blew about just behind the stack & the ship broke into several pieces & just settled down on the bottom.. All of the high parts of the ship were out of the water & burning...

I guess this Sub sim is going to be hours of nothingness, then along comes brief moments of rapid action and a hasty departure....

I have so dang much to learn..I don't even know all of what I need to learn..lol..

But suffice it to say, as an officer, if your men only think you are retarded, then you are in good shape.

Ha ha yeah, but I'm not to much of kaptian material at this moment.

say, where are you guys looking ? My salvo knob in the "F6" just shows two settings. Single fire and salvo. If I turn it to salve all three torps light up and are fired at the same time.

I just want to shoot two torps at once.. i'm missing something here.

Next to the slavo selector switch (to the left) a nice big switch is locat and ther you can select other tubes.

P.s. this should also be visible in the conning tower

Good job staying alive - seems to me there are too many captains here that loose boats on a regular basis, or have a death wish. (no names mentiond *cough* Brag *cough*)

Keep up the good work

The Hollywood Life calls many.

Stupidity kills. Rarely would a real-war skipper consider antics that are frequently shown on forum as great achievements.

Going against DDs etc. with no room to manouver would been something no Type II (or other sub, but especially Type II) commander would consider unless really desperate.
Like Erwin Rommel said: " Difference between risk and gamble is that when you take a risk, you can recover from loss."

I'm not getting something here in reference to a two torp salvo shot.
Type IID boat.
F6 key brings up the TDC...
There is a single/salvo switch...put that to salvo & all three torps light up and fire all together.
There is a nice big switch to the left of that, but it appears/seems to be for selecting just one torp at a time...unless I'm not doing a step that I should be doing, I'm just not able to get "two only" torps to light up & fire together while leaving the 3rd torp unfired.
what am I missing here?
