Reuters were a pain in the ass whenever I had to deal with them when I used to work for a newspaper, I always preferred AP. But I can't believe they did this! Well, come to think of it, yes I can:rotfl:

When you dont want to get caught using images, you use an image from one of the most succesful and popular films of all time. Everyone knows that.

Small update:
Quote:
Also, another photo of the dive, where one of the MIR submarines is viewed from behind seems to be 'misleading'. The surface photos of the MIR 1 & MIR 2 show that the submarines have text written on their sides and extra propellers in the rear. The REUTERS' photo doesnt show text nor the extra propeller on the submarine. Oh and back to the 'Titanic' photo. The best part is, that the 2 submarines are miniatures and they arent even underwater in the photo. This can be confirmed by watching the Titanic DVD's extras. ![]() |

Very "Capricorn One", isn't it?

To their defense, I wouldn't have thought of this either. I can just picture the Reuters desk going, 'OK, now let's watch all Hollywood blockbuster movies out there which feature submarines to see if the Russkies have stolen this from one of them, thinking no one will find out. After all, it's not like millions watched that movie! Yeah, we definitiely need to check this'. I mean, you have to admit it's slightly improbable:p.

Well, the answer to you SK, is pretty simple ( but we people never seem to think simple), there was only TWO subs that went down there (MIR 1 & MIR 2), so who took the photo of the 2 subs together???
Also, there was an interview of an finnish guy who has been training mini-submarine crews since 1984 and he said that when only two subs go that far down, only the other will go all the way down, the second one will stay slightly upper incase of an emergency. |
