Default Dipole Antenna - GWX

I've played GWX extensivly when it first came out and then had to take a longer break. Just a few hours ago I reinstalled the game+patch+ sh3 commander. After starting a new game in the year 1939 with the second flotilla I have noticed an antenna slowly turning on my bridge. It wasn't there before, why is it there now?

I guess it's a feature that was implemented since 1.0?

Welcome Timber.Wolf

It is a new feature, I think it came in 1.02, somebody can give you the scoop on what exactly it does.

Good hunting

Sounds like you are referring to the RDF loops.

We fixed 'em.

Here's your potato peeler. Fritz is looking for you in the galley.

Onions today.

Radio Direction Finder. It retracts when you submerge. You can consider it representative of a Radar Warning Receiver too... at least when the Biscay Cross isn't up.

This corrects an unfinished feature that was meant for stock SH3.

It was turned manually, probably not as fast and as often as depicted. The loop was used in conjunction with the wire antenna running from the deck to the tower and back to the deck. The wire "caught" the radio transmission and the loop found the "null". Together they were used to find the bearing of the radio transmission.

You don't see anyone turning it inside, or outside, for a reason. To keep Bernard away from it so it works as it should ingame. He's not even trusted to lower it when the Uboat dives.

Thanks for the warm welcome

Besides downgrading to decembers GWX there isn't really a way to get rid of that antenna, is there?

I love GWX and thought it was a real shame it wasn't even mentioned at the Mod Of The Year awards (seriously, GWX should at least have been mentioned), and it's great somebody took the time to implement a lost feature, kudos, but that antenna constantly distracts me. It might just be the fact that I'm a grumpy old guy, resistant to change, but I like things the way they used to be :p

Just enable GWX - Lowered DF Antennas (included on the 1.03 patch) with JSGME.

Wonderful, but it came with 1.03? That means it should be listed in the Generic Mod Enabler after everything was installed, right?

I can't seem to find it, neither is it listed in JSGME nor is there a folder for it in the MODS folder.

Please don't tell me that I have to reinstall everything.
