Default SH4 install soon. What mods are issential?

I am waiting for UBI to send me the 1.3 patch before I even install SH4 (They sent it just waiting for arrival) the box sits unopened

I play 100% and will actually start the game that way and learn on my first career patrol as I go.

I am inquiring for only the mods needed to improve relevant play for realism and correctness as well as lack of CTD.

I will worry about deatils later.

What say ya'll!!!!

Unless it's bundled with another mod, you must have the taihosan maru CTD fix mod.

The two, IMHO...VERY essential game-play and realism modifications to recommend would be...

1. Natural Sinking Mechanics 2.6 ....by WernerSobe

and...

2. New, Improved Campaign Layers version 0.73.... by tater

These are essential..but there are others, and you'll find them, soon enough.

And ...when you get around to caring what the ocean looks like...
you MUST have.....Living Breathing Ocean mod.....by leovampire

All found here...

Cheers!

:hmm:

In addition to what others have said i would recommend:

Anvarts periscope fix:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=118978

Captain cox's Game menu/screens mod
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=110756

And his CBS news mod, since all patrols in SH4 go for a fair distance, it helps greatly.

Beery's Real fleet boat mod might be up your alley.
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=111770

And you just can't play a SH title without oakgroove textures.

IMO, on top of what the gentlemen above pointed to, you need Leovampire's Living Breathing Ocean, for sure.

Trigger Maru is cool, too..gives you Ducimus' Tweaks plus alot of other mods..and Bungo Pete, which Ducimus made. (but you can't use TM and RFB..)

US torpedo bomber fix

the US Torpedo bomber fix is also essential. I think the mod is done by Anvart and is available on his site.

Thanks,

I have been DLing all day.

With dial up it can take a couple hours or more for things like the peri mod.

I will likely mod the RND file before I play.

I assume it is basically similar to SH3 in values
