Default IXB in action

OK, as I was tired of dodging planes in 1943 I just started a new career in 1939 with IXB and I must say I like it. I never tried this boat. It's huge The deck looks like an airfield comparing to type VII. It's much more steady in rough sea. It's full of eels! 105mm also looks interesting...

Sunk two big merchants, first one in 0 visibility (english weather...) on my interception course from BdU reports, second one encountered on it's way around Britain. Now the weather gets better so I can ventilate the muzzles a bit

Heading to pay a visit to US coast but Doenitz just sent me a message not to attack ships further than 20°W... oh well, a fat tanker should please him Still have 17 eels!

Way to go Hadrys!!!!
I love these steel monsters too, they are my favourite ones... I like all IX versions, but the one I am really in love with is the IXD2. Now, just a question: after trying the IXb, would you go back to a VII? I know I won't.
I mean, with the IX you have more torps, more fuel, more speed, more everything, why settle down with anything less than the IX already offers you?

I only use the VII's in the Med after all it's only a pond.

As for the rest of the world it's the IX for me.

Now, as extra advise Hadrys, if you like the IX, try them with STEED's skins
Danlisa has some excellent pieces of art too.
@ STEED: I agree, in the Med there is no need for anything bigger than the VII. And as you well said, for the rest, there is the IX!!

I like the IXs but started a new 39 career with a VIIC. Can't complain, got well over 100K tons on first patrol .

the IXB is the best! I have trouble going back to my type II and type VII for sure. get FuBars late war skin and your set! makes the boat look all rugged

Hmmm will I go back? I don't know... VII dives faster for sure, but underwater XI goes like a rock later... haven't done any hardcore tests yet but till now the boat behaves properly, turns etc. Most important it's more steady in heavy seas.

In general I would love to make few long and calm patrols. Also using proper amount of torps like 2 eels for ships >10k to be realistic. I was sinking huge tankers with 1 eel so with 21 torps I could get over 200 tons in one patrol easiely... not for me

I don't like the conn tower, it's to small for this boat... need to upgrade asap.

I'll check out what Steed has to offer

IMO the type IX is not a suitable/realistic choice for the Black Sea ....but hey, whatever takes yer fancy
