Default GWX radio messages

I'm finding all these GWX messages to be a pain in the arse. 1) Are there ships corresponding to the sightings by other ships in GWX, or are they just for atmosphere?

2) Is there a file I can edit to get rid of them?

Atomosphere. Yes, they keep breaking my TC!

I think there are txt files somewhere which you could delete to remove comms traffic. I myself I never bother with them.

In AOD, they reported convoy sightings and guided wolfpacks. Also, they let you know that life was getting harder as more boats failed to maintain contact with Bdu.

I have mixed feelings about the messages. They can be very annoying at times, especially when they arrive one after the other. On one occasion I had 23 radio messages arrive with about two minutes separation. I took the funker out of the radio shack.

On the other hand, the news about the war are interesting and give you a rounded up feel of how the war is going.

Though I have studied WWII in great detail, I find the news interesting.

Besides improving the game , GWX provides a great history lesson.

So despite my GRRRS, I think Cpt Lehman and his nefarious GWXers have done a great job in making SH-3 also an educational game.

Well done chaps!

Hmm, I don't mind them, apart from when you load a save you get a whole lot of messages from the previous 5 days or so again.

Also they do give info on historic events like the sailing and sinking of Bismark and the channel dash in which you can then participate or loiter around to see the thing go down.

At some point there will be an interactive sim where sinking or severely damaging HMS Royal Oak when she leaves Gibraltar to catch Bismark will have real implications for the rest of the war.

same goes for SH4 sort of, what would've happened if Indianapolis got sunk before delivering the A-bomb to Guam...that sort of thing

also for general effectiveness of convoy interdiction having an effect. eg less planes around britain because of fuel shortages at the height of the happy times

This sort of thing is already done (but on a larger scale) in many games by Paradox
(Europa Universalis, Victoria, Hearts of Iron) which leads to interesting developments sometimes
