Default Stationing of Repair officers.

I have a question? Where is the most beneficial place to station repair officers? On some cruises I will have 2 in the upper left repair section where the wrench moves. On some I have tried 1 in the upper left section where the wrench moves and putting the other where the boat actually has a problem. Ex. rear torpedo room , engine room. Does anyone have any ideas if putting them in the actual room helps repair times?

When cruising about, hunting keep everyone away from damage control as this is a high fatigue area. Depending on what mods you use you should only place anyone in damage control when you need to.

If you put a repair qualified officer or PO in the damage control when you need repairs they will be completed more quickly with fewer other crew members in the repair crew. To get the benefit of their qualification they need to be in the damage control box.

I normally have a repair qualified officer and one PO as a back up. When things go pear shaped I stick both in the damage control box and then use between 4 and 5 ordinary seemensch to get a full green bar at the top of the box which means you get 100% efficiency from them. Adding more people does not help get it done faster but with the exception of the two messes, stationing crew in the actual comparment under repair will help a small amount.

If you have more than one damaged compartment you should crew the compartments that are damaged as well as assigning the damage control team to the worst hit compartment.

If you have flooding get them into the one that is flooding fastest and then once it gets under control move them to the next worst.

A s Tarjack says, a strong repair team rested but ready to go will make a BIG difference when trouble comes.

I place the repair team in the ready box as I am about to penetrate the escort screen of a convoy. I also place people in the various compartments so they can begin repairs without my ordering so if needed.

When escort drops DC's, I go to the F7 screen, ready to deploy repair crew and turn off silent running.
