basically just create a folder to install it to that is NOT called Ubisoft... callit Newbiesoft or "Ubisoft2" or "Vanilla" and then install the game to that folder.

Rename your SilentHunterIII folder in the Ubisoft one - say GWX SHIII

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII ---> C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\GWX SHIII

Put your DVD back in
Install
Repair

A fresh SilentHunterIII folder

hmm that sounds like an interesting way to do it also... the way i did it there were two distinct versions of the game in totally seperated folders.

Well, I tried installing Sh III twice to tweak and compare but I did encounter some trouble....

I have installed the GWX SH III into the following folder: D:\Sh III.

Whenever I run the Dvd it detects the prior install and says it will modify the excisting install, but this is not what I want....

Anyway to circumvent this?

Thanks

Install SH3 once and patch to v1.4. Then simply copy and paste the whole SH3 folder structure. Done. You now have two distinct copies of SH3. Easy.
