![]() I shot two Passenger/Cargo ships with one torpedo each. They both stopped moving, tilted slightly on one side but keep floating. I have no deck gun (IIA) and no torpedo's left. With my flake gun I set 3-4 fires on both decks. Now what? They are both on fire and I'm waiting.. ..and waiting.. and waiting… Will they eventually sink? (and will I get my score?) Hmmm… :hmm:

Is this in stock SH3? If so, it's probable that they won't sink.
However, if this is with one of the supermods, then they might eventually sink due to flooding. It can take minutes or hours. ![]()

These ships are lousy sinkers.

Give it something like 12 hours and observe if the 'tilting' gets worse....if not it's probable they won't sink

I am finding the "tougher" ships to be one of the more frustrating aspects of GWX, now that I've installed it.
![]() I used to be able to one-shot C2 tankers all day long by hitting them right under the superstructure. Now I don't give any ship more than 2 torpedoes, and half the time they never sink. I figure since I only have 4 bow tubes that means on any given convoy run I will only be able to realistically attack 2 ships if I give each one 2 eels. If you're going to give any ship in the convoy THREE eels, then you basically are only attacking ONE ship in the whole convoy with any chance of sinking them. Might as well not attack convoys at all if you are going to go that route. So when I make a convoy run I pick out to "big ships" and give both ofthem 2 eels each. Either they sink or they don't. |

TBH (and only with subs armed with a deck gun) I fire one at the stern with the hope that if it doesn't sink from flooding then at least it grinds to an eventual stop for a second shot or even a surface bashing (all dependent on weather conditions, escort activity, armament etc.)
