I receive a contact report on a convoy. So, (no tails) I plot the likely area of intercept. I transit and begin the search. I (ahead 1/3) get a ship spotting on a clear and calm day. What's the best thing to do? My thought: Immediately go to PD before I am counter-detected. Since I have a rough idea of the convoy's course, turn perpindicular and move ahead slow to position for a shot by the time it reaches me. Mainly follow sound bearings and only put up the scope when it sounds like it is time shoot. Reasonable? Thanks.
