First Revenge

19 October 1939 (GWX 1.03)
U-46
BF-17

Penetrated an inbound convoy just before sunset. Calm seas. Raised periscope. On first sweep spotted a Revenge Class BB 1600 meters away. Switched torpedoes to salvo of 4 with 2 degree spread.
Los!
Normally I dive deep immediately. This time, the temptation was too great. I watched two torpedoes hit. 2 were duds.

The battleship slowed rapidly. Destroyer approaching forced me to go deep.
after an hour of inacurate depth charging destroyer went away. I came to PD. The Battleship was still there, convoy and escorts gone.
I moved into a good position and fired a torpedo under No. 2 turret.

A destroyer was sneaking in in my baffles. Managed to get to 80 meters before destroyer dumped DCs right on top. Managed to avoid them. 2 hours later Destroyer left.

Back to PD. Ifired one dud torpedo.
Fired my last bow torpedo and hit behind the tower. Secondary explosions and Revenge started going down.

Returning to Wili via Fair Isle Passage. Expect a party

Conga rats

It is those type of battles that makes this game the greatest.

I also just happened to encounter my first battlship while intercepting a convoy today.
Also a Revenge class. My eyes just about popped out of my head when I first spied her through the periscope. Unfortunately I was too far back and at an oblique angle with escorts breathing down my neck to have a go.

I backed out and shadowed the convoy for about 3 hours, finally setting up an intercept. Somehow I pulled it off like it was text book.. Came in behind the lead escort and crawled low and slow right into the middle of the convoy undetected. Anyone notice the convoy is super wide in formation when a battleship is in the middle?

Set up dead perpendicular to the Revenge at about 800 meters. God this game can put you on the edge of your seat - specially as I was a battleship "virgin" - I think I checked my torp settings about 30 times in the last 2 minutes before firing :rotfl:

3 eel salvo, all magnetics for under keel - I was hoping to get a spectacular munitions or fuel explosion, didnt get it all eels impacted and she slid down gracefully to her grave. New single greatest moment for me in SH3/GWX

Yeah--great satisfaction in sinking a battle wagon . Well done, mate.

at my first mission i got a radiomessage to enter scappa flow.

i did this via the east side and spottet destroyers.
i managed to get right underneath them and spotted a revenge battleship.
i destroyed a destroyer as a decoy and went up to the revenge.
while those idiot destroyers DCed the wrong place i fired 4 torpedoes and went up south. 3 did hit the revenge battleship and it started to roll over.
while those destroyers were still DCing the wrong place i fired another torpedoe wich hit right in the middle. as the battleship went down the destroyers were comming for me but i wa already gone to the west. i got out of scappaflow and continued my mission to grid AM32. after a long time at sea i was out of ammo and also almoast out of fuel so i had to go back with a speed of 3 knots.

i made it back safely to willemshaven with 8 ships sunk.
