Default My First Patrol

Finally got a chance to play this game after two weeks of Exams, my anticipation only sated by reading these forums

Deciding to skip all the preliminaries I jumped straight into my frst Career no tutorials,Gwx enabled and full realism ticked no gods Eye either.

After placing Bernard in what I assumed would be the safest position whilst in harbour, The helm, I plotted my course out to Patrol sector AM 24. I was very proud to hear the "following plotted course" message as I succesfully gave my first order.... right up until I suddenly recieved a number of warnings that I had recieved damage to my bow. Must remember to direct Bernard OUT of the dock in future.

Thinking it wise to move Bernard to another position I set him in charge of the Periscope whilst I practiced stalking some nice friendly German Boats, all seemed o be going well until I realised that I was travelling only at 5 metres depth with my periscope at full extention. Shoving Bernard into the Foward torpedo tubes and launching him out in front of me where I could pick him up later, the next couple of days went without incident.

Picking up Bernard I placed him in the position of navigation aid, not expectin to run into any ships along the way to my Patrol sector this early in the war. Much to my digust I did in fact run intoa merchant vessel, and after vainly attempting to follow its crazy zigzaging course for nearly an hour I came to the relisation that the damn thing was neutral.

Resisting the impulse to ruthlessly sink the ship out of spite, I plotted once again the route back to my patrol sector a course I still remain on due to my younge brother wishing to play world of Warcraft.

However even though this is not exactly turning out to be the best of first patrols, I am enjoying this game greatly, and expect I will do so even more once I get the hang of things.

As a final note dos anyone here know where I can find a mod that will give me sme extra tools for the attack map and also a chart of the different speeds of the Torpedoes? I want to try to plot my own Torpedo firing solutions.

Thank you to all the community for sustaining me this past two weeks, Year 12 exams are not fun.

Welcome

There's nothing like taking the plunge into the deep end.

You should have all the tools you need but might I suggest a visit to Dantenoc's excellent U-Boat school.

Going to U-boot school :

Prety much everthing you need is in these threads.

You can find the torpedo speeds by visiting the Weapon Management Screen in your WO's order seting, just click on the torpedo graphic and you get the lowdown on the weapon.

Thank you very much

Problem is I can't seem to find any tools to use apart from the ruler and the method I have figured out to calculate Firing solutions (withough the Torpedo computer) requires at least a compass and a proper protractor. It's quite possible the tools are there and I just havn't found them though

Use the Nav Map to calculate your solutions (F5) this is where all the tools are.(top right corner) then use that data and input it into your TDC.
