Default Patrol 19 - CA73

Got about 2/3rds of my patrol grid covered in land, putting me at a maximum of maybe 25km from Norfolk before leaving the grid.

Gonna be a tough 24hours...

Anyone know what Naval activity is like at Norfolk in April 1942?

This maybe the first time I regret using a Type IX

No idea on activity -- but look out for the minefields, they extend up and down the coast , well into sea.

After Operation Drumbeat yes. I do not know if it happens in SH3 GWX but there is one way to find out.....

I would go over the continetal shelf on the surface at night, depth of keel at 6 meters. Enter patrol square, stop and settle on the bottom. Then I would hope to find tankers in deeper water. I imagine air activity to be fairly frequent. I was attacked by PBY at night in Caribbean (Dec 41 Stock SH3). No clue what GWX has done there.

Hmm, good idea.

I'm guessing it's gonna be hell for patrols and Aircraft, I intend to keep a low profile then slip South into the Gulf of Mexico (read some good things about it )

I'd do my 24, sitting there as quiet as a mouse, and then move on to CA79

Well, it's not going exactly to plan...

Was sat there happily, Rain, thunder, 15m/s winds, Medium fog... happy as a fox that's just found a hen house...

So, I take the time to alt tab, read some of these wonderful forums...

...when I return, I've taken mild damage, and I think there's a DD looking for me, could be wrong, but I get that impression for two reasons.

Firstly, the 5" hole in my side.

Secondly, the DD racing towards me.

Managed to get to 12meters, amazingly, no fecking clue what to do now! May ram him as a last defiant act

EDIT: I'm in 25meters of water.

I'm gonna have words with BdU IF I make it out alive... anyone taking bets against?

You will make it. Just stay at PD, keep as low profile as possible, and you should be OK.

I think I love Bold Decoys... DD just wasted 2 runs on the bubbly mass (which i dropped as soon as I was at PD) I'm now slipping away VERY slowly, 45% hull integrity but at least I can run silent now the flooding is under control

Well I escaped.

Sailed 20km @ 25meters, audio Merchants...

Periscope Depth, Victory Class (never seen one before)

I sink it, along comes the Clemson......

Luck ran out, took some DC hits, integrity fell to 2%, I dove to 50meters and I imploded.

Still, good fun all round
