They be forming convoys mate. Patience Kaleun Codmander. The sheep shall come to the slaughter in due time. Now eat your moldy black bread and beef. You will need your energy or anti-diarreal medicine

I usually run @ 32 x or 64x TC when hunting, and it's not unusual for me to spend a week before finding something.
Had the annoying experience recently of receiving 2 contact reports fairly close together....1 of a convoy to the NE, heading NE....and the other of a large convoy to the SW, heading SW!! So there I was with convoys 'either side' of me on the map, both heading away from me. Given the weather, their distances from me, and reported speeds, I couldn't catch either of them... Enough to make you scream!!!! |

Eight days at sea VIIC, 96 real, 1 TC, Manual navigation. Have not reached DH48 and have seen nothing but waves. The only thing Ive expended is two cans of blue powder. Too soon for this so someone had to bring it with them. I should fire myself for sleeping. I was 20 degrees off course this morning.

I often set the sim running and do other things - I get alerted by the crew shouting something! I imagine that's what the "hard core 1x" players do. |

If you're sneaky enough you can round ireland to the west and enter the strait between england and ireland. Keep going until you get to one of the two points where the distance between them are less than 20km (I usually pick the second one going in because the water is deeper). There just lay in wait until your hydrophone operator reports contacts. Surface for recharging and air at night and keep to submerged travel and batteries by day.
This becomes EXTREMELY dangerous later in the war (mid 1943-) aircraft are brutal and destroyers have very sensitive sonar. If they find you they will most likely kill you so total non detection is vital. I wouldn't attempt this in any thing bigger than a type VII. |
