Default Shortest first patrol?

7 September 1939, 1st flotilla out of Kiel, 84% realism.

Got to the patrol area, but was immediately jumped on by a destroyer in the dark. My boat took a battering from the depth charges, and was forced to the surface. Just as I was looking for the "Ok, ok, we'll come quietly" hot key, the sub got rammed and sank without so much as scratching the paint on a merchantman.

Well, could have been even worse - it came within an emergency reverse of ending ten minutes out of Kiel, when a mix-up with a plotted course almost had me crashing into the first bridge on the canal. I could just see the headlines: "U-boat lost with all hands in Kiel canal".

Looks like I need a bit more practice with this...

Exactly 3 minutes.. on my first patrol out I coulda swore I was coming out of Kiel Docks at a bad angle so tried to recorrect it... suffice it to say major flooding in every compartment aft of the control room.... OOPS..

I doubt Doenitz would've been chuffed...

AVG, you never cease to amaze me! Your continuing ineptitude has been great for the morale of the men on my boat as they look at me in a new light after hearing about that crazy "Kaleun Warhawk" and his zany misadventures...

Default Me Too

There I was , in all my glory , you know , 1st pattrol , new to the game , just passed the academy , go'n to kick some major butt . Started my patrol out of Wilhelmshaven , standing on the bridge in awl of the band , I even called my kids to check it out . I went to the chart to have a look , and to plot a course ... BAMB ! ... into a wall . I would say maybe a minute or 2 into it ... Started a new career , my daughters are still laughing at me .

@Dooler

What town in Marylard are you? I'm in Glen Burnie. Brag is in Bethesda. I know of another on the other side the Marley Creek from me. His name escapes me at the moment.

on my first patrol when i got the game when it came out, my sub didn't follow the plotted course while leaving kiel and ran aground and had %1 hull integrity left, luckily i was aground and couldn't sink and got the flooding repaired and slowly slid back into the water(then sank) 11 min patrol

i did survive, just, and then just as i though i was safe i hit a mine H.I to 30%. all was well from then and i drop my lighter on the "C" key and that was that

I think if there is a SAFE place to sink, it'd be 5 feet away from your home port That's an easy swim right there, even for me! Maybe one of the band members can be used as a flotation device
