Default Aleutian Operations Senario-Sinking at Pier

I am having a problem with the Aleutian Operations Scenario-Basically I am sinking myself at the pier. The scenario starts with an FFG alongside a pier. I lower my APU's, set rudder admidships, go back 1/3 and start taking damage. Meanwhile, the FFG isn't going back. After about 9 minutes of this, the FFG sinks. I'm following the same procedures for leaving port that I have in other missions, but this time I end up on the bottom. What am I doing wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong. The mission hasn't been modified to be compatible with DW 1.04. That's all.

Yes that's what I thought too. Until then it's a shame because it is a good scenario. I played it.
My only question for that one is how to navigate through the ice. Of course you launch your helicopter and you ``cheat`` by zooming out to see where you can go. I don't think the chart are giving you where exactly you can pass.

Any comments

The map will show you where most of the ice sheets are. The mk1 mod0 should help you were the map isn't perfect. Plus, you've got the HFS to find those pesky ice keels.

The HFS is only good for icebergs (not for flat ice, I tried it, unless I am missing something). And I guess when you say the Mk1 Mod 0 you meant eyeball?..

Thanks

Thank goodness its a compatibility issue! After sinking my own ship at the pier, I was afraid I would have to trade in my SWO pin for Dolphins!

Edit the mission in the scenario editor and move the starting point of the FFG into deeper water. That will solve the problem.

I tested the "African Bee's Nest" scenario when I updated the FFG model, but didn't realize there was a mission that started in even shallower water!

Sorry about that, I'll take the blame for that one. "Mistakes were made" (grin)

Oh no, just the first mission of the most popular aftermarket campaign available, and a handful of others.

And don't forget how many missions that weren't made b/c the water was already too shallow to put a harbor there.

You guys really need to dredge the bottom near major ports... Norfolk, Yokosuka, etc...

'We dive at dawn' with 1.04 + LwAmi is also 'kaputt'.

"We dive at dawn" works on my test system. The draft of the 688i didn't change a whole lot, unlike the FFG, which now matches the data we have.

I wasn't around for the development of DW, so I'm still less educated than most of you are about the game. If I'm not up on the latest and greatest, I apologize.

I believe the issue with WDatD only occurs when waveriding is enabled (which is fairly standard for most DW players to use as I understand).

LWAMI doesn't change any drafts or buoyancy values, so that shouldn't change anything related to this.

Cheers,
David

I had waveriding on during my test. Didn't hit bottom.

I will make a review of the Aleutians Operations to make it work properly with Patch 1.04 and since it was one of my first scenarios I will try to improve it a bit.
Once it is done I will send it to Bill for Subguru page, along some other scenarios I have ready by now.
