Now that was Too close!

Hi, I had just sunk a Pyro Ammo freighter & watching from the conning tower, with a smug look on my face when I noticed the Watch Officer squatting down, and I thought, gee what a hero!! But then the music changed & I thought Oh Ohhh, looked around and there was a ship heading in our direction, check through binoculars .... damn, destroyer, & depth below keel is only 31 meters! Well I went streight to flank speed & set depth to 30 meters, I got to about 20meters then went silent, by this time the destroyer was almost on top & she stopped! I turned hard to port then she sped up & dropped DC's ... a narrow miss, I continued and had to ignore the mess in my pants, to my surprise she turned to starboard & then turned on asdic, now I thought I was doomed but she picked up the ship wreck & headed toward that, I had to use external view the suspense was killing me, she went on an attack run & dropped DC's over the wreck, I wished I had thought of hitting the screen capture key as when the DC's exploded it lifted the wreck about 20meters out of the water, was a sight to see!! The destroyer stayed around the wreck for enough time for me to escape before she continued on her way! That is the second time this patrol I was DC'd, there must be a big fat medal waiting for me, and a trip to see the fuhrer, when I get back to Port!:rotfl:
Cheers.

I have never seen a DD do that in game....go after the sunken ship. WOW. I have read about it books of RL situations they did that. Cool, I will have to look for that in game.:hmm:

If you can just ensure that happens everytime you attack a convoy, you'll never have to worry about Destroyers again...

What I like about GWX is that crazy things happen like in real life. No two patrols are ever even closely the same.
