Armed trawler goes to shallow!

Hi.

Came across two merchants and an armed trawler as escort. (French)
The trawler was at least 1-2 m to shallow. It looked liked it was just flying on the surface. The screws where above the surface.
Have you seen that?
I use GWX.

I was waiting for them with no engines running. Scope down.
But just as the trawler passed me at 700m he lit his search lights.
How in the h*ll did he notice me?
A French armed trawler.....Sh*t.....
I fired two torp. at the large Merch. Keel shoots at 9,5m. Missed....
Dived to 100m. Escaped the first dc run.
Change the course to the same as the Merchants. Came up to 13m.
Fired my last torp. at the Large merch. from behind. Hit him with a keel shot at the stern. He sank after 20min.
But it took me at least 40min. to get rid of the froggy trawler...

I´m worried to meet a "real" destroyer after this.

Happy hunting from VV.

Were the seas choppy? Usually in windy weather where the waves are huge is when the "floating ship" bug you described happens. It's been around since stock SH3.

This could also explain why you were seen. Were you at periscope depth? Maybe you broached the surface due to the choppy water and the all stop. Remember, when you cut your engines altogether, you float up a couple meters.

Some of these little auxiliaries can be a BIG bother. I had a an armed tug beat the bazoonks out of me (I thought he'd be a dead duck with my DG)

It was quite calm, not so high waves.
I did not broach the surface......

It might be the same one I spotted, somewhere west of the northwestern tip of Spain. It must have been autumn -41 since 1´st flot. had moved to Brest. French armed trawler and 2 merchants going N/E and the trawler was floating. Calm sea. GWX. Did´nt think much of it at the time, just let them by and continued my patrol.

Yesterday i had also a mission in a heavy storm.
Had waves of 1 to 2 metres. Saw that it wasn`t flying but it was
moving to deep.
