Default Sicilian Wedding 6 Scenario

Guys,

I'm using the sub as the controlled player unit in the Sicilian Wedding 6 Scenario but cannot transit out of the harbour. The depth is too shallow and damages the sub even at doing different speeds from 2 kts to 7 kts or higher.

Any ideas??

Maybe this scenario was ment for the surface ship only!

I've never had problems leaving harbor, other than avoiding a couple of sailboats.... the water should be plenty deep enough.

No clue why your experience should be different

Thanks for the response Bill, Unfortunately, with the 688i there is only 9-10 feet clearance from the sea bed. For some unknown reason, the 688i rocks up and down and touches the sea bed. Boat damage inevitable.

I also have had this problem repeatedly. Never have been able to finish the mission due to it. However i run mine on Multistation over my lan if that could make a difference.

I'm guessing the waveriding in the physics model has been increased since Bill designed the mission? :hmm:

That's quite possible, I believe there were some physics-model changes in the latest patch. I may need to move the start point to deeper water, or reduce the sea state. :hmm:

There are for sure dramatic changes. Especially the ship stability is much lower now, on the surface too. And there are those strange pitch excursions during depth changes.

Just got back home from a business trip, and took a look at what's happening.

There is a good 10-feet of water under the keel, so the sub shouldn't be grounding. However, with the latest version's physics model, the sub begins pitching fore and aft soon after the mission starts. That's with sea state = 1 and no currents or winds! The result is that the bow (or stern) hits bottom and damage occurs.

Here is a quick fix until Sonalysts re-works the physics model to make the subs more stable:

In OPTIONS, Uncheck the box labled "Enable Wave Riding". This will prevent waves from affecting the sub's pitch and roll, thus allowing you to leave port in shallow water.

Hope this works for you!

Thanks Bill, Never thought of doing that.
