Default Mods to start out SH4?

Hi guys.

Used to play a ton of Silent Hunter 3 with GWX back in the day. Haven't touched a subsim in five years or so but got the urge to play one again. SHV looks meh so I thought I would try SHIV. Curious if there is a mod like GWX for it that you would suggest. I see as I browse the forums a TMO and OM, but not sure if they are a good place to start. I think the Pacific campaign would be where I would like to start.

Also if I just want to play the pacific campaign do I need to get gold or can I just buy Wolves of the Pacific and enjoy mods?

Thanks for any info.

Default A few here...

Welcome Mr. Gord! SH4 is a fun sim good choice! I am not the official welcoming guy but this will get you started. There are some super cool guys on here that will get to your thread when they see it but this will get you started.

Assuming your at 1.5 with uboats

RSRD run silent run deep
Improved stock enviroment v3
Maxoptics imo its good mod

Now if you want to run uboats
add Operation Monson to that list with the patch and upgrade

If you want hard Pacific
TMO its upgrade and patch

Have not tried RFB real fleet battle so don't know.

I am no vet here but those are some good ones.

Go here for some good info http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=155786

Thanks Den. Appreciate the reply. Maybe i will try RSRD and the Improved Enviroment mods to start. What's Maxoptics? Couldn't find anything on it.

Thanks again!

Gives you more zoom on your peri and tbt and binos very handy IMO.

Yeah play around with 1.5 and RSRD for abit get the feel of the game then move up the more advanced mods they are alot tougher.

Most of the mods are built for version 1.5. That's the U-Boat expansion. So, you do need the U-Boat expansion even if you're only going to run the American campaign.

I run TMO, RSRDC, OTC(Optical Targeting Correction), and Traveller's Mod.
