Hi,
As the title says, only light fog and impossible to lock target even at 500m! ![]() How come? TMO 2.5 + Traveller mod for TMO + OTC for TMO + ISE #1 and #2 (waves and colors)

That's strange, certainly isn't TMO. Can't remember for sure, but don't think OTC changes any scene dat or env values that would cause such. I don't recall that issue when I used OTC. I also don't think ISE changes any scene dat values regarding fog, nor have I heard anyone else complaining of this issue with either mod...The last time I heard of this problem was with Real Env Mod, but someone made a fix for it.
The one ISE extra mod for clouds and waves I suspect does make changes to the scene dat, but would have to check and see what values where changed. Still, seems someone would called this out. Try disabling ISE mod for clouds and waves and see if that fixes it, if so, let caustic know. Get back to us....

Heck, missed something, you're running Trav mod with OTC, I don't see that working at all, they both use many of the same files. You may get a percentange of each that may work, but I doubt it, plus possible conflicts.
I agree both are great mods, we need to pull as many pieces out of Trav mod that can be used with OTC, something I plan to do. Trav does make some minor changes to scene dat, but I use it and don't have your fog issue. Good luck...

One would have to look at each and compare files, but doing it long ago, I saw both used many of the same, it may not crash the game, but could cause some wierd game play. If you ran OTC after Trav mod, not sure how much of it you would have left, vice versa....
Try that, if that doesn't solve it, try the ISE extra mods next.

I totally just ran into this issue. Running TMO myself, ended up on the surface against a subchaser and couldn't lock the target.

Ok, i've checked, and only ISE waves and clouds change the scene.dat file.
ISE realistic colors change some env.dat file. Traveller mod doesn't change any of these files... ![]() My problem is, i can't play TMO 2.5 without OTC (mainly for boat's lenght in ID manual, to calculate boat speed), and i can't play without both ISE because they fix my sea black stripes (without ISE, my sea is awefull). On other hand, i get this fog issue now! ![]() I started an other thread about this TMO 2.5 color issue with my rig, and i don't get it at all with other TMOs! TMO 2.5 makes my main room very dark on roof and floor, and i never figured out why. Makes the sea with black stripes too. Deactivating post effect filters, main room is ok again (but colors washed out) but sea is still weird... Is there any TMO between 1.9 and 2.5 to download for test? Quote:

Trav mod does make a few changes to the scene dat, but think it's just wind to create quicker weather changes. I don't have a fog issue with Trav mod. Env file wouldn't cause the issue. I did open up ISE waves and clouds and I believe he did adjust the fog values in scen dat, but that may or may not be the issue. Again, simply disable this mod and see if it fixes it for you. I don't see anything in OTC that would cause the issue. With your previous graphic issues, something may be amiss or corrupt in a file. When numerous others run the same mods without the same issue, that's usually the problem. Again, disable the ISE mod for waves and clouds, if that's the problem, it could be a corrupt file. Try unzipping a new copy of the mod, if the problem is still there, PM caustic, sure he'll take a look at it and make a fix for it if needed. If I get time today, I'll test it myself. All you can do with these issues is to disable mods one at a time until you find the one that is causing the issue. Even if you find the mod causing you the issue, it may still be something on your end regarding your PC, drivers, video settings, etc... It's a pain, but sometimes you have to start over, follow the correct protocols to uninstall the game features, start clean and load a fresh copy of each mod one at a time. Be nice if you could post some SS of TMO 2.5 alone and see what issues you're having with dark room and black stripes, then a few of your fog issues if the above doesn't correct the issue.

I had something kind of similar happen in TMO on my current patrol. Lookouts reported a ship sighted while I was running up Makassar Strait on the surface during the day. Conditions were Light Fog, but otherwise clear day. I was able to spot a tiny little black bump on the horizon ahead and soon picked it out as a Sampan.
Just before going back to the map (for TC), I swept the horizon with my binocs and saw two dark columns of smoke. I headed toward and determined their bearing change to the south, then set off on a normal approach. I kept closing and they became clearer but I could not lock on with the TBT. Sonar had nothing and this is when I thought I had some kind of screw up in the game, like ships that were being rendered but somehow did not "exist" in the game. I was pretty sure I had two big freighters, both had foreward masts with mid-ship funnels but low hulls that looked "over the horizon". I figured they were around 5 miles away and I was still closing. More and more details were coming into view, and I could almost read the flags, I was getting really close now but still no lock. Finally I was able to get a lock, and ID'd a Tug Boat leading Fishing Trawler. They couldn't have been more than 2500yds at that point. Tiny little things. Dutch. No sonar sounds at all. |

Fifi,
I loaded the ISE mods and had the same light fog issue. Moving along at 256 TC and next thing getting blasted from a ship not 500 yards away. Crew got visual at that range. I got dived and lost crew visual at about 500 yards. A escort came on, I could see it through the scope barely, but had it's spot light on. I couldn't get a lock until 500 yards.... I use my own envs, but thought I would test it. You should PM caustic about the issue, does need to be fixed. You could try the base mod by itself and see if that's the issue.

No, actually a Sargo. I just think they were going too slow for sonar. I have had that happen on a few merchants. I checked on the sonar station myself to listen, although I am trying to play this career mostly avoiding using sonar other than what the crew can report when I ask for contacts reports.

I have the ISE and it does that fog issue with me as well ... I stopped running it because of that. I once sat in Truk next to a Yamato for three days waiting for the fog to lift. I finally just decided to fire using radar alone and sank it but I really do not like the over done fog in ISE.
One huge benefit of fog like in ISE is that I can find ships on radar and then blast them at 1000 to 500 yards with the deck gun without risk of injury. Even the Destroyers and other escorts I have simply blown out of the water by watching the radar and manually firing the gun at them. When I run out of Ammunition I just use the radar for a firing solution and get in under 1000 yards while leading the target by 5 to 10 degrees. Point the TDC at zero line the bow where you want to fire. When the radar shows the ship at 350 to 355 fire on high speed set detonators to influence and do not forget to have your doors open already or the fish will might miss aft. |
