Speaking seriously, I've had considerably more trouble from SF in the last three years than I've had from my internet connection. The worst of it was when I recently upgraded to Vista. Before that the DRM on SH3 was a pain, but after... well, has anyone here managed to get SH3 working on Vista without using a crack?

Edit:
It sounds, from the second link you added, like some people did get it working. And some didn't, even after following the instructions. One thing is for sure: everyone had hassle with it. I for one won't miss it.
