Don't like renown!

In GWX 3.0 you have 500 renown to start with. I don't like this.

Why not make it like NYGM? You start in 1943 with all what is available.

If I start a new patrol in GWX, I don't want to go to school again (I am 52 ) ... thus my renown is only 500.

Let's say I want to start in 1943 ... there are a lot of gadgets that I cannot buy!?!

Or have someone made a mod for this stupid renown issue.

Renown is not a shop or script where you buy anything. Bdu gave their best boats and crews to those who 'earned' the right and respect based on their experience and tonnage and by following orders. The Bdu had limited assets and obviously those assets went to the very best!

So, again unless I am wrong, one 'earns' their way up the ladder with 'renown'.

Don't agree with you. If you are a new Kaleun and you are 28 years old in 1943, BdU would give you a U-Boat with the right specs, otherwise you would die immediately.

I suppose you never tried NYGM. The most difficult mod. But you (can) get a U-Boat with the specs of that specific year. There is no renown there is tonnage in NYGM.

Just alter the saved game patrol files (\SH3\data\cfg\Careers\etc\etc) and put as much renown as you want..sheesh.

Yes OK, (however I don't know how to do that), but that would be cheating ... right?

OK again, but is it like NYGM, it would be strange to have certain "gadgets" in 1939 sub IIA?

Or is this mod as it should be in RL?

Thanks guys!

Renown: The reputation of a combatant based upon the virtues that others perceive in him from his word, thoughts and deeds.

Like they say, one has to earn it!

Open the basic file in the Cfg folder and look down it every time
You see the word Renown change the following numbers to 0
That would do it they would still appear when they are suppose to

Another option is the one I use: GWX doesn't make you go through the whole Academy to get the 1500 renown. All you have to take is the first Navigation course and you're set.

On the other hand, I've never used renown at all. I just don't ever upgrade anything.
