How do I edit start dates and flotillas?

Hey guys, I recently decided to make a full-blown Japanese career mod for SH4, rather than just a reskinned UBM career. However, I'm running into problems.

I set up a flotilla at Hiroshima by adding a German Naval Base unit in the area of Hiroshima in the AxisNavalBases.mis layer, and edited the appropriate UPC files. The Hiroshima flotilla is currently only set up for the new campaign start date that I set, 20/11/1941. However, when I test that, I get the Career Start screen, but instead of the captain's name, submarine name and class, and base name, I get NEWCAPTAINNEWLINENEWLINE NEWBASE SUBMARINENAME SUBAMRINECLASS. I don't get this when I start from the stock dates.
