Kiel Canal
Using the canal to access the southern end of the North Sea makes obvious sense and saves a lot of fuel. My problem is that `time compression` will not go any higher than x16 with x4 being the norm. It takes a VERY long time to reach the North Sea this way. Is there an answer to this please?

Trying to change the time compression settings via SH3Cmdr might give an answer to your problem but i am not 100% sure that you can do it this way. Check it if you like.
