Welcome aboard and enjoy your stay at subsim,
did you deactivate all your mods first? when you have uninstalled you should open the folder C:\program files\ubisoft\silenthunterIVwolves of the pacific\ and delete anything in it prior to reinstalling. try that I guess. M |

next do as MM says and delete the silent hunter 4 folder inside of your ubisoft programs files. some files get left behind if they werent installed correctly. reinstall your sh4 game but do not install any of the patches, install ubm v1.5, it will update the game to v1.5 and it includes all the files to update the game so no patches are needed. there are no german missions included in ubm (really stupid that they didnt include any) so you should use syxx killer's german missions pack found here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...+missions+pack i think what happened was the mods were still installed when you tried to uninstall the game, if so it only removes the original game files and any new or modded files would be left in place |

it does seem to me though that what you said is right about now removing the mods before i uninstalled.....i'd say i didnt but where would the files be coming from now......if neither of those two folders exist ?

I install mod A that turns the sky pink
and I install mod B that turns the boat into a dinghy I decide I dont like mod A and take it out right away by itself. when mod A was put in it scanned the files it was replacing so it would know what to put back it made back ups. of the game files. when mod B was put in it made a back up of the game files + the changes made by mod A it then backs them up. when mod A was gone the pink sky was gone but the changes left by mod B (dinghy) were still there. when mod B is uninstalled the files are restored to the condition they were in when mod A was active and now with no mod installed you have pink sky. I think the last version of JSGME will prevent you deactivating mods out of sequence. regards M |

Yes Mush its true but if the JSGME back up folder has been deleted too as well as Ubi folder that should not happen
I think Vista stores some files too If he use Vista |

Yep, if you're using Vista, install the game as far away from the "Program Files" folder as you can. It sounds like that's the case here, or the "Twilight Zone" has found a new home in his computer
![]() Edit : Also wouldn't hurt performance to install it on a separate hard drive if you have one available. Last edited by Digital_Trucker; 07-13-08 at 12:52 PM. |

Follow the Procedure, precisely step-by-step and including the several re-boots, described in this link:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=133290 If you have VISTA, make all the installations into a folder other than "Program Files". I have two folders called "My Games" and "My Applications". With Vista, by default all files within the "Program Files" folder are generally Read-Only, so that as Games/Appplications such as SH try to write/update files, it doesn't work. (There's a way to overcome the default setup, but it's just as easy to create the separate new Folders). Good Luck

only thing i could think of is if somehow you have a duplicate installation of sh4 in another location, make sure you dont have another sh4 game file in the programs directory.
i doubt it but it could also be that it is a corrupted sh3 folder containing the rfb files. i would suggest you uninstall both sh3 AND sh4 just to be sure, then delete the ubisoft folder from the programs directory, then delete the sh3 and sh4 folders in your "my documents" folder. now reinstall your game and see it its working correctly. if that doesnt solve the problem then sorry to say but it would not be a problem with the game, but a corruption in windows, possibly a virus. |

Until he has done what I suggested, it's a lot of wasted effort for us to continue to make wild but well-intended 'maybe try this' 'maybe try that' suggestions, ad infinitum.
If he's carefully re-installed as I suggested, following the steps precisely, which has worked for MANY problems such as his, hopefully he'll return to this thread and advise us. Meanwhile, until he says something about his current status, I'd let this thread die...well, let's say go into a temporary Coma.
