Default A slap in the face to the Western World's idea of free speach

This is pathetic and unheard of. Basically if athletes see something they are against, they are barred from talking about it - even after returning home!

Olympic kow tow as British athletes are forced to sign contracts banning criticism of Chinese regime - http://www.phayul.com/news/article.a...egime&id=19209

Belgian athletes will be barred from talking politics at the Olympic sites - http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/01/...olympics23.php

Where's the IOC's voice on press freedom in China? - http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servl...rnational/home

But at least people the likes of Spielberg are speaking out about it:

China feels heat as activists take their cue from Spielberg - http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2008/fe...12.humanrights

Not unheard of. Quite common for China. And other places. Even Western countries.

What does it say? I have so many advertising sites blocked right now, that it would be a pain to unblock this particular add. I've got 3 layers working right now and haven't seen an add on a website in a year.

It's an ad by "China Odyssey Tours" to visit Tibet.

"We will help you explore the mysteries of Tibet
We will give you memories to last a lifetime
No fixed departure date"

Well, we will see if it is upheld first and not some rogue judge, so until it is or if it is, I consider Spain a somewhat Western country! If that happens (which I seriously doubt), no longer will I think that way of Spain!

But if you analyze this - this is more a defamation case and not one of free speech. Its like you writing something inaccurate about me and damaging my reputation. You can sue for that in a Western country. If you write about something about me that is damaging but true however, then no, you can't be sued for it.

In China - the will be the case - they are barred from saying things that they have seen and are true. This is the problem.

THis Spanish case however is major grey area. I wonder what will happen???
