Default U50 returns from first patrol safely!!!

Kpt Marten Braun and the crew of U50 returned to Kiel after a successfull patrol. Only one ship was sunk, a 4200 ton Granville freighter. Eleven U boat badges were awarded to the men after, so I handed them out based on priority to who I thought deserved them.

Encountered a 2nd Granville on the way back to port just north of Scapa, dove down to PD and fired 3 torps, all 3 missed aft of her. Must've been a bit off with my speed calc. Damn Feeling sullen and rather depressed during this patrol, I let the freighter slip away to be sunk another day.

Sustained minor damage to the hull when a Royal Navy Motor boat loomed out of the heavy seas and thick fog and fired on my boat with machine guns. Dove down to evade rather that try to fight it out. I'll add a Machinist officer to my boat next time, and i'm thinking on sending one of my guy's for a medical course to become the boat's medic.

Question: Does a Medic actually HEAL your crew if any of them get wounded? Or does he just stop them from dieing?

Well done by sinking freighter.
Not sure how good medic is but he does a lot of good when you place him in a trouble spot.
keep up the good work. Drinks are on you when you are in port

Yes, Medic does heal them...heck, even if you stop them from dying you have saved yourself a crewman...

Now, just remember that you have to move the crewman to the same sleeping quarters the medic is in...cannot have a wounded guy in the rear torp area and expect him to be healed if the medic is in the front sleeping area...

Good luck getting home...

Just returned from my 2nd war patrol of the night. U50 arrived home safe and sound. Some 5 ships sunk and given the Iron Cross 2nd class for my troubles!!! Biggest catch was a 7000 ton Large Merchant. The rest were small fry. Faced some DC attacks in the irish sea from a vengeful destroyer. His pinging was insessant but he never found me, spat his DC's in the wrong direction while I snuck away

For the heck of it, and against the orders of BDU, I raced up behind an ASW trawler and blew him to pieces with the deck gun. with all my ships sunk in and around the Hebridies, Marten Braune and U50 will surely be nicknamed "The Devil of the Hebridies" :P heheheh

Rather than start a new thread I thought i'd post this here as it concerns my boat, U50. My first patrol out, my attack Periscope was stuffed. I raised it during an attempted attack on a ship to discover when the lense broke the surface, the view was blurry as hell, making the attack scope an ineffective attack tool submerged. I used the observation scope instead for clear observation.

2nd patrol out last night, I'd have expected the useless engineer's in Kiel to have fixed the attack scope but no. The vision in it was STILL blurry during my 2nd patrol last night, as was also my observation scope!!! Either agent's are somehow sneaking onto my boat and deliberatley breaking the lenses on my scopes, or they're just malfuctioning!!!!

Either way, those damn Kiel repair engineer's haven't yet repaired my scope(s). If you do a scope check befor you leave, everything is fine. You only notice the scope(s) are screwed when you've been submerged at PD and pop the scope up to have a look around. If my scope's are still in ****ty condition when U-50 sails out for her 3rd patrol, some poor bugger's head is going to be on the chopping board when I return!!!!!!!

U50 returns home from her 3rd patrol with 2 medium cargo's sunk for 8000 or so tons. Pretty pathetic really Recieved the Combat Clasp & Combat Badge for my troubles.

But my attack periscope is STILL knackered on this 3rd patrol. I know the game is meant to model malfunctions etc, but having my scope attack scope lenses blurry and broken for THREE patrols I think is a little excessive

Yeah i'm thinking of turning that off even though I like playing with it on. I've had this scope problem before, but it's always "fixed" by the next patrol but it just seems to be carrying itself from one patrol to the next.
