Is there a file that controls at what depths the creaking noises are played, or is this hard-coded?

Maybe it works, if you do a search for the sound-file name (without the extension - *.wav, *.ogg or whatever), in your SH4 data?
It should show up, if it's in cfg's and stuff.

The only thing I know of in a file that might be related to that is the max depth in the .cfg file for the sub. That might be a dangerous variable to play around with though.

I think the .cfg value is merely a number at which the program looks at and says "Okay, he's under XXX feet in a X class sub, initiate groaning."
If you change that value, I bet it'll change the depth at which the groans take place, but not when damage does. To fix that, just go into the .sim file or .zon file (I forget which) and check depths. Make sure to set your real crush depth accordingly. ![]()
