Help Regarding Base change

Ahoy Kaleuns!
I came accross a situation here... I´m on my 10th patrol on Stock SHIII. Right before leaving my pen (from Wilhemshaven) I get a radio message saying that the base was changed to Brest... however, on my briefing still says "return to: Wilhemshaven" and... the most important thing... Brest is not showing on the map! So I was wondering wether I should return to Wilhelmshaven and discard the message, or try to find Brest... maybe googling it???
Any advise will be really appreciated!

Well since you mentioned google - I'm going to presume your not familiar with where Brest is. N/W tip of France, bay of Biscay. Look below England on the map, BF 28 just above BF 52. Just go there, don't worry about what the breifing still says.

Well it doesn´t
I followed the coastline on the map all the way down to Cape Town! And Brest is nowhere to bee seen! Of course I mentioned Google as some sort of a joke... but I think I´ll need to sail there blindly and see what I find!
If I go back to Wilhemshaven, I´m still gonna be able to dock there am I not?
I´ll see what happens after I restart the game, maybe then it´ll show.

edit: I´ve just tested, on single missions, all the ports show just fine, when on campaign, I´m missing not only Brest, but also St. Nazaire. Should I just not worry until the time of returning home or is there anything I can do?

IIRC - and it's been over two years since I played stock - Brest doesn't show up immediately, it takes a little while (a month or so?).

I see these options:

1. Keep patrolling until it appears (this may take a while);
2. Go within 30kms of the port of Brest and press Esc...all being well it should give you the option to "Dock at: Brest". If it just says "Return to Base" go to option 1;
3. Dock somewhere else, but realise that it will not be your home base and you will have certain limitations.

It's already July 1940, and the problem is that I already got the base change message! And... correct me if I'm wrong... but don't all the ports show even if they are not available for you? They just show in red or green if that was the case right? Anyways... I guess I'll get there once my patrol is finished and see what happens!

The "Base changed to: Brest" message will not appear in stock until midnight on 1 Sep 1940. Pls don't confuse it with the "New base available at Brest" message which appears in early July. This message is NOT telling you to go to Brest.

There is a problem in stock with Brest showing - it should show earlier, even if red, but it doesn't.

Well... "Base changed to: Brest" is the exact message I'm getting... also, when I go to load my savegame for that patrol, if I click on the "after-patrol" options, they say:"Base:Brest"... so I'd say that if anyone is confused... that'd be SHIII

The flotilla cfg has the change Aug 40 too but usually thats the first of the month

The radio message saying a new base is available should go out the 28th Aug also

So am guessing from the games point of view you should be moving base on the 1st Aug 40 but the base isnt actually there till 28th Aug 40

You could try changing the flotilla cfg date to Sept 40

The changing base bug is an old one

I guess you are getting messages to change base in July in readiness for the first of Aug as per flotilla cfg
But the base isnt open till 28th as per the LND so you cant change to Brest

I'm sure no one cares but here it goes:
I finally stopped at Wilhemshaven, of course the only thing I was able to do was replenish my fuel, food and torps reserves (you won't even imagine how many eels I wasted TRYING to put down a coastal merchant the last night on patrol ).
After that, we put to sea again and I got Brest on the map, so... if, and only IF we survive Der Kanal, I'll be meeting the rest of 1st flotilla there!
