Request For Evasion Mod For Surface Air Attack

The one evasion technique that was used running on the surface was to move to Flank speed and zig-zag on the surface if attacked by aircraft.

With this post I am requestion a button that implements this type of evasion tactic instead of me doing it manually by my self. There is too much going on and stuff to watch to monitor this.

Please, pretty please.....
Regards

An interesting request...

Personally--I use "C" . But a button that would get me zig-zagging would be nice for those unusual occurences when I get caught napping :hmm:.

Peto,

I noticed your mod. I will try it out. But I usually take out the SC and MS with deck gun. We'll see how your mod handles that....

thanks

Zig-zagging is a pretty standard evasion tactic for any vessel, but subs didn't use it as any sort of standard, they would crash dive as soon as they detected an aircraft.

I'm not sure its much of a problem though to press '[' or ']' every couple of minutes to full left or right rudder, if you got caught on the surface. :hmm:

Or use sh4speech to give the commands verbally while you're busy giving all your other commands.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm using the [ and ] keys and that works for me somewhat but sometimes I forget to go back and go in circles. That is why I'd like a controlled zig zag. Whatever...

Thanks

Capn Cox had started doing a conversion to sh4 of my

Auto evasive maneuvers mod for sh3
(the directors cut aem mod , on my FF)

he did release a search pattern version of it

but I dont know if he ever got around to the
auto evasion part. he may have it partly assembled
on the shelf check with the Capn.

What I did for sh3 was make zig zag templates that run either north south

or east west.

the orientation of your subs bow determined the starting end

as it turns out

for sh4 we needed to enable two more buttons for the search patterns
on the gui.

but the principle works fine in sh4

only the extra buttons are needed for it to work the old three pattern
commands from sh3 still exist in sh4 so its not that big a leap.

Mush,

Buttons seem to be no problem. I've loaded some mods that have new buttons and artwork on them as well. It's getting the right evasion pattern that is the key. We need quick 90 S patterns and probably 2 and of course we need to go both directions with those. I'll look and see if I can find the standard ones and see if I can create the mod and then ask someone on the forums about formatting the buttons.

Just D/L the auto evasion mod from my FF
theres a builders template in there and intructions
the only problem is that you have to resave it as
sh4 mis files which has been done.
then you are able to open them in sh4 mission ed.
and work away.

theres a few tips
and if you have questions pm me.

[edit]
Heres the original release thread for sh3
have a look at the pix.

Ok, I downloaded the information and looked at the pics. The ones of the actual boat look good. The S evasion needs to be greater than what I can see. I'll get into it later.

thanks again
