You can change the blahblahblah\Data\Misc\UMark.dds file or you can use the smaller one in the mod available at http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=113392 . I use the smaller one. It's still visible but not as obnoxious.

You can try removing the file from the game (save it somewhere, just in case) and see if this accomplishes what you are seeking. It may cause a game crash, it may cause an error message and the game will continue and it may work with no error message (my bet is one of the first two).

The other alternative is to change the file to be blank so that nothing shows up in game. You could do this several different ways. You could use Photoshop (along with the dds plugin available from nVidia at http://developer.nvidia.com/object/p...s_plugins.html or you could search the forum for the other dds tools.

Or, you could try the mod I mentioned and see if the reduced size is sufficient to alleviate your problem.

Another way to get rid of the submerged marker is to press 'Ctrl' and numpad 'Del' together in external view and the orange marker should disappear.

I used to try it with mods and messing about but I think its better to just do it manually once everytime I play, cuts down on the possibilities of nasty or irksome side effects.
